The Cryo-Tracker System was originally developed for the aerospace vehicles but can be used in any cryogenic tank. Accurate mass gauging of the cryogenic propellants loaded onto aerospace vehicles prior to launch is critical for mission success. Figure 1 shows a propellant tank loaded with densified (subcooled liquid below the normal boiling point) cryogenic propellant. Mass gauging the stratified cryogenic propellant requires knowing the tank pressure, tank volume, liquid temperature profile, and liquid level. The Cryo-Tracker® MGS is designed to measure the temperature profile and the liquid level.
